Sri Lanka among top outsourcing countries
Sri Lanka was placed 21st in the Global Services
Location Index (GSLI) released by A.T. Kearney Global Management
Consultants a report that rank top 50 countries worldwide as the
best destinations for providing outsourcing activities. This is an
impressive score for an industry new comer and ICT will be one of
the most important sectors for future prosperity of Sri Lanka. The
country needs to have focused strategies to market globally while
addressing the weaknesses, A.T. Kearney Global Business Policy
Council Fellow Simon Nihal Bell said.
NDB Group profits up by 35% to Rs 2.9 billion
The NDB Group’s profit after tax for the year
was Rs 2.94 billion, an impressive growth of 35% over the previous
year. The profit attributable to shareholders for the year was 2.70
billion and compares with Rs 2.1 billion for 2010, a growth of 29%.
This significant increase in group profits was attributable to the
growth in the core banking income of NDB by 13% over the previous
year and the improved performance of the fee based group companies.
USAID focuses on private sector development
USAID is focused on private sector development
and forming new, high impact public private partnerships in Sri
Lanka, US Ambassador Patricia Butenis said at the Public Private
Alliance Forum held at the Galle Face Hotel Thursday. She said that
USAID and its partners are working and investing together to build
new markets, unlock opportunity for rural and recovering communities
and enhance the country’s economic potential.
