Govt aiming to relieve consumer of oil price worry

*‘High cost of fuel in world market’

*‘Opposition trying to mislead public’

The government reduced the price of fuel many times in the past when the price of oil in the world market went down. Similarly, the government will reduce the price of fuel as soon as the price of a barrel of oil goes down in the world market and will offer the benefit to the public as it did in the past, Environment Minister Anura Priyadarshana Yapa told the Daily News yesterday.

Govt appoints National Police Commission

The government has appointed the National Police Commission in terms of the 18th Amendment to the Constitution. The Parliament Council has approved the nominees of President Mahinda Rajapaksa to the Commission. President’s Counsel Senaka Walgampaya will be the Commission chairman.
