House passes EPF (Amendment) Bill
The Employees’ Provident Fund (Amendment) Bill
was passed with a majority of 59 votes in Parliament yesterday.
Seventy-one members voted in favour while 12 voted against. The UNP
and DNA voted against. TNA members were not present in the House at
the time of the vote.
Voters names to be on website
Chief Government Whip and Water Supply and
Drainage Minister Dinesh Gunawardena, yesterday stated that the
government was taking measures to enter the list of names of the
voters into the Election Department website. The minister made this
observation in response to a question raised by UNP MP Sajith
Premadasa in Parliament.
