Indian External Affairs Minister here on Jan 16

Indian External Affairs Minister S M Krishna will arrive in Sri Lanka on January 16 on a four-day official visit.

He is scheduled to call on President Mahinda Rajapaksa and his counterpart Prof G L Peiris.

According to a senior official of the Indian High Commission in Colombo, the Indian External Affairs Minister will sign an agreement with Sri Lanka to implement the second phase of the housing programme funded by the Indian government.

Over 49,000 houses are to be constructed in the Northern province costing US $ 260 million. Krishna is also expected to sign a new agreement for bilateral cooperation in the fields of agriculture and telecommunication regulation.
