The Chettinad promotion brings the very best of South Indian (Tamil
Nadu) cuisine belonging to that of the Chettiah community. The food
promotion includes the use of traditional Chettiah kitchen utensils in
the preparation process and the highlight of the promotion will include
interesting live action stations including kottu-paratta, meter coffee
and veechu parotta.
Whilst the stage will be set to bring back the old traditional charms
of the Chettiah community and its cuisines, guests will all be treated
to a complimentary 'Ice Moor' drink which is a famous yoghurt based
drink and the perfect start before encountering the rich and wondrous
flavours of the Chettinad menu.
Guests will get to indulge in the very best of a-la-carte menus.
Originally Chettinad cuisine was derived from vegetarian dishes but
later evolved with the spread of trade and business in the Chettiah
community and embraced other international cultures and cuisines
especially that of Malaysian and Singaporean influences.
Therefore, Chettinad cuisines now include non-vegetarian choices as
well.
These range from a wide choice of non-vegetarian dishes such as baby
shark, mutton, seafood, quail and chicken.
One of the very special secret ingredients used in Chettinad food is
the herb 'Kalpasi' which is quite similar in comparison to that of the
Truffle Mushroom. Kalpasi is rich in flavour and adds that much needed
zest to the dishes. |
