First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa donated a new house to the family of an SBS war hero, Chief Petty Officer K G Shantha who sacrificed his life in action in the seas off Point Pedro. The donation was made at Nittambuwa in appreciation of the bravery of the member of the Navy’s elite Special Boat Squadron (SBS) which played a vital role in vanquishing LTTE terrorists. The house was constructed with the funds granted by the First Lady in memory of her late father E P Wickremasinghe, a senior retired naval officer in the Navy. President of the Navy Seva Vanitha Unit, senior naval officers and key members of the NSVU were also present on the occasion.
