Self-employment training for NWP women

North Western Provincial Social Welfare, Probation and Childcare and Rural Industries Development Ministry will train members of women's societies in the province on self-employment projects, Provincial Minister Gunadasa Dehigama said.

Training will be provided to women on preparing sweetmeats and producing exercise books, candles and jossticks.

It has also been planned to provide them marketing facilities to enable them to sell their produce at a reasonable rate.

"The main objective of the programme is to uplift the living standards of rural families. The technical know-how will be provided by the Ceylon Industrial Development Board," the provincial minister said.
