Accidents up 12 percent

The number of admissions to the accident ward of the Colombo General Hospital has increased by 12 percent compared to last year. within the 36 hours that ended at noon yesterday, 152 people have been admitted to hospital, sources said. Last year, only 91 persons were admitted due to accidents.

There is an increase in patients involved in road accidents. Sixteen were admitted on liquor related accidents and 36 persons on violent related matters, the sources said.
