Minister wants speedy resettlement

Traditional Industries and Small Enterprise Development Minster Douglas Devananda instructed officials to take immediate action to resettle those to be resettled in the Thenmarachchi area providing them land, houses, other infrastructure facilities and agricultural equipment and space for cultivation on a priority basis.

He said so chairing the Thenmarachchi Divisional Development Council meeting at the Thenmarachchi Divisional Secretariat recently.

The minister also instructed the Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman to take steps to prevent destruction caused to cultivation by stray cattle, goats and wild animals, such as, monkeys and boar.

The minister said it was necessary that state officials, representatives of voluntary organizations and people's representatives to express their views by participating development council meetings so that solutions to problems could be arrived at with least delay.

EPDP Jaffna District MP Sylvestri Alantin, Anjalidevi Sathyasheelan and officials of the Army and police also participated .
