NCPA probes child and women’s care centre
A child and women’s care centre in Moratuwa came
under the close scrutiny of the National Child Protection Authority
yesterday. A team headed by NCPA Chairperson Anoma Dissanayake,
including Police officers of the Authority, inspected the location
following a call on hotline 1929. According to them there had been
over 75 children at the centre at the time of the inspection.

CID busts dud note racket
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) took
into custody a suspect who had printed and delivered three million
fraudulent notes of Rs 1,000 denomination on Monday in Kesbewa. The
CID seized 20 bogus currency notes and machinery used to print fake
notes.
