Ranaraja props up Antonians

A maiden century by skipper Kanishka Ranaraja helped St Anthony's College, Kandy to total 253 all out on the first day of their inter-school cricket match against Vidyartha College, which began at the Open Prisons grounds, Pallekele yesterday. The match will be continued today at 9.30 am.

Kanishka Ranaraja batted with a lot of aggression hitting 10 fours and 1 six and reached his hundred in 100 balls. He put 104 for the third wicket with Muditha Puswella who made 60 with 8 fours.

Off spinner Tilina Rupasena bowled best to capture 5 for 71 and Keshan Gamage took 2 for 27.

At close Vidyartha College had replied boldly scoring 79 without loss in 17 overs. If they continue batting in this fashion they may score a big total unless the Antonians make an early breakthrough.

St Anthony's College: 253 all out in 59 overs (Yohan Woods 36, M Puswella 60, V Deepal 25, Kanishka Ranaraja 101, Saranga Rajaguru 19, Tilina Rupasena 5 for 71, Keshan Gamage 2 for 27).

Vidyartha College: 79 for no loss in 17 overs (Ruwan Bandara 41 n.o, Niluksha Galapitige 31 n.o).
