Red Stars beat Young Silver SC

The Dehiwala-Mount Lavinia Football League 2011 knock-out tournament runner-up, newly formed Red Stars Sports Club of Dharga Town and Young Silver Sports Club Colombo played the opening fixture of the Premier League 2011 Division III Soccer Tournament that was conducted by Football Federation of Sri Lanka at Cooray Park Ground Wellawatte, last week.

Young Silver SC led 1-0 at the breather while centre forward Mohamed scored the opening goal for Young Silver, Red Stars centre forward Mohamed Afrar equalized the scores in the 70th minute and held each other to one all at full time. In the penalty shoot-out, Red Stars SC won by four goals to two.

The game was controlled by Mohamed Irzan.

Other Results

Galle Youth SC beat United SC, Dharga Town 2-0, Kentucky SC, Ambalangoda beat Light House SC, Beruwala 2-1 at Bentota.

In the second round Red Stars SC will meet Maroons Sports Club, Gampaha today at Zahira College Ground Dharge Town.
