EFC proposes new Workplace Relations Act
The Employers Federation of Ceylon, EFC has
proposed to the government to introduce a new Workplace Relations
Act and repeal industrial Disputes (Amendment) Act No.56 of 1999.
Submitting budget proposals EFC Director General Ravi Peiris said
the Employers Federation of Ceylon has consistently pointed out to
all stakeholders in employment that recognition of trade unions and
collective bargaining and the right to freedom of association cannot
be guaranteed by mandatory legislation which is lopsided and favours
only one party.
