Blind eye to anti-Lanka terror funding
President Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday said it is
a matter for regret that the very individuals and institutions that
point their fingers at the government for defeating terror, seem to
be unaware of the truth about the prolonged battle waged against
terrorism, and the very nature of those terrorists.
Crime busting: professional approach wanted
A people-friendly Police service can only be
guaranteed through a highly professional approach towards cracking
down diverse crimes and unlawful activities in the country, Southern
Province Deputy Inspector General of Police Vijaya Amarasinghe said.

The Police assisted the three Forces, Army, Navy
and the Air Force, to completely vanquish the LTTE after three
decades, said Inspector General of Police N K Illangakoon addressing
the 145th Police Day ceremony at the Bambalapitiya Police Grounds in
the presence of Senior DIGs, DIGs, Senior SPs, SPs, ASPs and other
ranking officers. Two minutesí silence was observed by the
participants as a mark of respect to the Police personnel who had
scarified their lives for the motherland and who were disabled
during the war.
