Prosecutions for criminal offenders

Despite repealing emergency regulations, suspects arrested for acts of terrorism will not be set free, experts said yesterday. Most opined that those who have specific evidence against them and charged for criminal offences could be prosecuted even under the normal law.

Two members of wanted gang arrested

Two members of a four member gang wanted in connection with robbing cash, jewellery and a jeep worth over Rs. 26 million from a businessman's house at Pamburana, Matara on August 13, were arrested by the Matara Police in Keselwatta Panadura.
