New info centre at SLBFE

A state-of-the-art, 24 hour migrant worker information centre would be opened at the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) head office at Battaramulla tomorrow.

The centre would cater to the needs of local foreign job aspirants and those already employed abroad. It would also provide relevant information to recruitment agents and family members of migrant workers.

The centre which has a well trained staff would also strive to resolve disputes which occur between migrant workers and their employers by way of negotiation, the SLBFE said.

It would provide comprehensive details to information seekers on all aspects related to foreign employment, including new vista's, legal validity of the job agent, the maximum charge the recruitment agent can levy, terms of contract etc. Prime Minister D.M.Jayaratne, Foreign Employment Promotions and Welfare Minister Dilan Perera, SLBFE Chairman Kingsly Ranawaka, Secretary to the President Lalith Weeratunge and other dignitaries will attend the opening ceremony.
