Helping hand for visually impaired students
Nethali STRUYS
Forty five visually impaired students who are engaged in higher
education were donated equipment packs each valuing Rs 10,000 by the
Korean Businessmen's Association of Sri Lanka (KBA).
The event took place at the YWCA auditorium recently. This was
organized for the 20th time by the Sri Lanka Council for the Blind. It
is for the 15th time that the KBA is facilitating the event.
The pack includes a portable cassette radio, talking wrist watch,
white cane, braille writing papers and a braille writing slate. The
people should treat visually impaired persons with equal status rather
than subjecting them to sympathy, said Social Services Minister Felix
Perera.
