A victory for the whole of Sri Lanka – President
“Having wiped out the world’s most ruthless
terror organization and having preserved the unity and territorial
integrity of Sri Lanka, we are now in a position to proudly hoist
the national flag. What we are commemorating today is the ability of
the Sinhala, Tamil, Muslim and other communities to live in unity in
our land and the occasion of freeing tens of thousands of Northern
citizens who were held hostage by the LTTE terrorists,” President
Mahinda Rajapaksa said yesterday.
Salute to War Heroes
Flags of various colours fluttered as the ocean
winds blew across the Galle Face Green reminding us of what
President Mahinda Rajapaksa said that people in this country will
never forget the supreme sacrifice made by the War Heroes for the
unity of the Motherland.
Murdered maid’s family gets compensation
The family of a Sri Lankan maid, who was
murdered by a Saudi sponsor’s wife, received Rs 1.2 million as
compensation, the Sri Lankan Embassy announced in Riyadh yesterday.
