IMF chief arrested over sexual assault
International Monetary Fund (IMF) Director
General Dominique Strauss-Kahn has been arrested in the United
States on charges of sexually assaulting a hotel maid in New York.
Strauss-Kahn was arrested at the John F. Kennedy International
Airport on Saturday just before he was to leave New York for Paris
after he was accused of a “sex attack” on a maid at a Times Square
hotel earlier in the day, The New York Times reported.

US divided on ties with Pakistan
The administration of US President Barack Obama
is divided over the future of its relationship with Pakistan
following the killing of Al-Qaeda founder Osama bin Laden, The
Washington Post reported Sunday. US commandos killed bin Laden in an
urban compound only 55 kilometers (35 miles) from the Pakistani
capital Islamabad on May 2. The newspaper said that some officials,
particularly in the White House, have advocated a strong US

US special envoy to Mideast resigns
Former US Senator George Mitchell has announced
his resignation as the US special envoy to the Middle East at the
time of uprisings in the region. Mitchell’s resignation came on
Friday after the Israeli-Palestinian peace talks failed to get
rekindled, and at a critical time in the Middle East embroiled in
the turmoil.US President Barack Obama accepted the resignation and
called Mitchell “a tireless advocate for peace,” the Associated
Press reported.
