'UN principles violated'

"It is very clear that the Darusman Report has been manoeuvred by Ban Ki- Moon to curry favour with Western super powers. He has gone beyond his mandate and in breach of the powers of the UNSG in going public with this unscrupulous and partisan report, Dr Nath Amarakone," leader, Eksath Lanka Maha Sabha said.

"UNSG's hand picked Panel whom he termed as "experts", are not members in the service of the UN. This in itself is a breach of principles of the UN in seeking advice for his guidance.

"The panel members are on record as being prejudiced against the Sri Lanka Government.

They have gone out of the way to dictate terms to the government, a sovereign member nation of the UN Assembly.

"Sri Lanka has objected to setting up this panel to begin with. Their appointment has been done without a mandate from the UN General Assembly or the Security Council. The Sri Lanka Government has disapproved the so called "panel of experts" as unfit to report on the subject.

"This panel as expected has sought representations only from the rump of the LTTE. They are reported to have received 4,000 documents from 2,800 organizations and persons, who remain incognito.

The Government of Sri Lanka has not been consulted on any of these representations. The report remains a charge sheet based on representations made by the rump of the LTTE. These have not been verified by any investigations.

"It is a fact that Ministers in the UK and France have attempted to interfere during the final stages of the terrorist war in Sri Lanka.

"The US Secretary of State after the elimination of LTTE terrorists has pressed for an investigation into human rights of the civilians used by the LTTE as a human shield. The Western interests in protecting dictators in Iraq, Afghanistan, Tunisia, Egypt, and many middle east countries have led to erosion of human rights rather than to safe guarding them.

"They tried the same in Sri Lanka as well by their attempt to protect Prabhakaran, a rabid racist and separatist who followed the agenda of the foreign funded NGOs. They failed in their efforts due to the firm of stand of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

"Ban Ki-Moon fails to note the millions of civilians who are dying in the process of so called attempts to safeguard Democracy and Human Rights, a mere camouflage of the Western neo colonial powers for imposing their self interest. They have invoked the UN Security Council to save civilian lives in Libya who are supposed to be threatened by its President Muhamour Gadaffi.

Under this resolution the NATO forces are unleashing indiscriminate air attacks on civilians in Libya and arming civilians to fight against the legitimate regime, which is a member of the UN.

"The UNSG is silent about the death of thousands of civilians, the worldwide by separatist moves encouraged by Western powers as part of their new colonialist strategy.

"Ban Ki-Moon has acted in a partisan manner to further the neo colonialist agenda of the Western power block and he proceeds further his own agenda in favour of Western powers to seek his reelection for the second term in the UN post."
