Chairman Dr Ravi Liyanage |
“Actually we also have a vague idea of who the winners are. It is
totally a business of the panel of judges to decide it.” Chairman and
CEO of the Kingdom of Raigam Dr Ravi Liyanage by which the Raigam
Tele’es is organized. “We just get an idea of the award winners when
invitations were posted to them, but for sure we also do not know who
the winner is,” he added. The panel of the judges is headed by Professor
Ajantha Hapuarachchi and it barely includes artists. At earlier
occasions the panel was headed by Dr Patrick Ratnayake.
“This year’s awarding ceremony has a significant feature. We have
added 10 more categories to the awards list, increasing the number of
awards to 47,” Dr. Liyanage said. When questioned of the future of the
Raigam Tele’es Dr Liyanage said that they initiated without any
experience. It was really difficult to cope with the artists since they
are very sensitive. Their sensitivity make them artists and the same
reason makes it difficult for us to deal with them.

He added that the vision of Raigam was to elevate the Raigam Tele’es
to international level like Grammy Awards and Filmfare Awards. “Now we
have enough experience and there is nothing wrong in dreaming,” Dr
Liyanage said. “I think all these international awarding ceremonies
might have initiated in such a way.”
He said for example when he initiated Raigam - The Kingdom of Raigam,
some persons inquired if it were a company manufacturing glue. “Now our
products are available in 17 countries,” Raigam Chairman said. “In such
a manner I think we can make it a zonal awarding ceremony after five or
six years.”
He stated that one of the key factors of the awards ceremony is
felicitating the veterans with the Prathibha Prabha Award the lifetime
award.
“To be successful for a company or even a family it should have a
clear goal,” Dr Liyanage added. |
