Jaffna Rivals in their 50 over Match

Jaffna Central meets its traditional rivals St. John's, Jaffna in their annual limited over cricket encounter today. This will be the 9th encounter and will be played at St. John's college ground for the first time.

All the earlier eight encounters were played at Jaffna Central ground. Out of the eight matches they played so far St. John's won the first four matches while Central registered wins in the remaining four. This encounter was inaugurated by the then Principals Late Rajathurai of Jaffna Central and late Thanapalan of St. John's, Jaffna in 2003.

This it will be a close contest as both year teams have performed equally in their traditional Big Match played last week end though Central won by two wkts in a thriller.

Jaffna Central will be captained by last year limited over hero Edward Edin, while St. John's will be led by all-rounder Vithushan.

There are some other changes too in this game from the previous games. For the first time they are introducing white cricket ball and the players will be in coloured clothing.
