Army attends special pooja at Naguleshwaram Temple
Hundreds of soldiers serving under Security Forces Headquarters -
Jaffna (SF-J) received blessing of God Shiva attending a special pooja
organized on the 9th day of annual Maha Shiva Rathri religious ceremony
of historical Naguleshwaram temple at Keeramalai on Friday (25.02.2011).
Religious ceremonies commenced on February 17 and will last for 14 days.
Friday's ceremony conducted by the chief priest of the temple Raja Raja
Sri K Naguleshwaram Kurukkal was organized with the coordination of the
Army troops.
Jaffna Security Forces Commander Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe,
General Officers Commanding of Division Headquarters, Brigade and Unit
Commanders, Officers and Soldiers and civilians made offerings to the
deity for whom this significant Hindu temple is dedicated. The ceremony
will come to an end with water cutting on March 3 at Keeramalai sea.
Naguleshwaram is one of four main Shiva temples built by King Vijaya
at four corners of the island for the country's protection. |
