Oil bank capacity enhanced

To develop Sri Lanka as a bunkering hub:

The Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) plans to enhance the capacity at the Colombo Oil Bank up to 95,000 metric tonnes, the SLPA said yesterday Following the policy of the Government to establish air, maritime, energy, commercial and knowledge hubs under the Mahinda Chinthana program the Ports Authority has taken a number of initiatives to develop Sri Lanka as a Bunkering Hub.

Plans to increase manufacturing capacity:

Micro Cars Limited expects to expand its manufacturing capacity as sales of the Micro Panda are rapidly increasing in the local market. Micro Cars Limited., currently has 250 units of Micro Panda vehicles on the assembly lines in various stages of assembly.

Benchmark year for NSB

Records Rs 5.4 billion profit in 2010:

The total assets of National Savings Bank reached Rs 403 billion in 2010 passing another benchmark and total deposits of the Bank were recorded at Rs 355 billion. NSB’s profit before tax (PBT) recorded a growth of 41 percent to reach Rs 9.8 billion and post-tax profit increased by 45 percent to Rs 5.4 billion over the last financial year, the bank said yesterday.

Micro Cars Limited with its new model, Micro Panda has finished manufacturing of 30 units while received 250 orders. Micro expects to achieve 20 percent of market share only in Micro Panda in the compact car segment of the company. It also aggressively looking for export markets for locally assembled and value added Micro Panda. Micro Cars Limited Deputy Chairman Sabri Wahid hands over the keys of Micro Panda to a customer.
