Prasanna only medal winner for Lanka

Prasanna Pieris became the only lifter from from Sri Lanka to win medal at the Asian weight lifting Champiponships which was held in Bahrain. Prasanna competing in the 70 kg Class won silver medal.

The gold was won by Oman's Anwar Dharmishta while the bronze went to Japan'sThakashi Yamasaki.

The championship was competed by 26 countries from the Asian region. Bahrain won the overall Championship winning four gold, three silver and four bronze medals.

Sri Lanka was represented by eight weight lifers from different weight categories.
