EFC program change mindset on State sector jobs

The Employers’ Federation of Colombo (EFC) will launch a program to change the attitudes of school leavers and graduates, towards private sector and public sector job opportunities.

EFC Director General Ravi Peiris told Daily News Business the Sri Lankan mindset is always to get employment in the public sector considering its job security.

“They should realize that the private sector is also strong and well established in the country and it is the private sector which is going to create business opportunities and creats employment opportunities,” he said. The private sector will create a large number of employment in the future and the private sector has the capacity to generate more jobs than the public sector.

There is also a notion that Government sector jobs are easy and comfortable with many holidays and less work unlike in the private sector. If Sri Lanka is to develop these attitudes have to be changed drastically and the youth in our country should concentrate on developing their skills required by the private sector.

The EFC jointly with Unilevers invite job aspirants to follow this program which will be advertised shortly.
