Seetha Devi and Sylvestrians hockey champs

Seetha Devi Balika Vidyalaya 'Greens' (girls) and St. Sylvester's
College (boys) became champions at the first ever boys and girls Under
15 Hockey Championship organised by the Old Sylvestrians Hockey Club and
played at Police Grounds, Kandy.
A total of 16 teams participated in this tournament.
In the girls finals Seetha Devi BV 'Greens' beat Pushpadana Girls
College 3-2 on penalty strokes after the match ended in a scoreless
draw.
St. Anthony's College clinched the third place defeating Seetha Devi
BV 'Whites' 3-2 on penalty strokes.
Ahimsa Nirmala of Pushpadana Girls College was adjudged the best
player of the tournament. Best Goal-keeper was R.S. Sakuntala of Seetha
Devi BV 'Greens'.
St. Sylvester's College beat Dharmaraja College 3-1 on penalty
strokes. The scores at full time stood at nil all before the penalty tie
breaker system was implemented.
Kingswood College finished third when they beat Trinity College 1-0
in the losers finals.
Rameel Dharmaratne of Dharmaraja College was adjudged the best player
of the tournament. Chanaka Sandun of St. Sylvester's College was
adjudged the Best Goal-keeper of the tournament.
Dr. Maithre Rajapakse President St. Sylvester's College Old Boys
Association was the Chief Guest with Malcolm Perera, Manager coaching
Sri Lanka Cricket as Guest of Honour. |
