City of Dance -Season 2

The talented youth scattered all over the island is brought together to one city, in the pursuit of one common passion; dancing; with the onset of Derana City of Dance - Season 2. This has become a new and glamorous experience to the television viewers as well as the participants.

The City of Dance have now reached its most attractive stage. Sixty young talented dancers representing 12 teams are performing their dances to earn the Best Dance Crew trophy. Among them, 20 exceptionally talented youth are selected to compete for the Best Solo Dancer. An illuminating stage with modern technology is ready to present these outstanding performances of the youth.

At the initial round, 1,000 contestants were selected from over 19,000 applicants, and among them 500 were taken in for the second round. In the third round, 100 talented contestants were given the opportunity. After these preliminary rounds, a challenging task of dancing to a track offered by the judge board was given to the participants to select the most outstanding 60 dancers.

The judge board consists of Mohan Sudusinghe, Kevin Nugara, Himali Siriwardena, Shan Perera and Upeksha Swarnamali and Jananath Warakagoda.

The program has also provided the contestants an opportunity to enhance their capabilities, capacities and talents through workshops. Five workshops have been conducted with the guidance of master Ravibandu Vidyapathy, and several judges of the competition. The basics of all core dancing styles, and the essential knowledge required for a professional dancer have been taught in them.

The Program Director is Sharmila Dharmadasa, and Ravi Rasantha and Dinusha Hettiarachchi are the Co-producers.

"We facilitate number of people to watch this program at the audience built inside the set. Unlike other stages, where the audience is detached from the audience, we have placed it around the stage, giving a new experience to the viewers," Co-producer Ravi Rasantha said.
