MTI Venture Start-up Challenge:
Finals in August
The MTI Venture Start-up Challenge brings together young minds from
business schools, universities and professionals from corporate
organizations to take part in an innovative business competition, with
the objective of inspiring them to challenge conventional thinking and
develop a business plan on emerging opportunities in Sri Lanka.
The team briefing for selected candidates of the MTI Venture Start-Up
Challenge was held at the Ceylon Continental Hotel on July 12 and teams
were allocated their venture and briefed on the guidelines for the
development of business plans.
The preliminary rounds will be on July 25 and August 1 and the finals
will take place on August 13 where the teams will present their final
business plans to the judges.
MTI Chief Executive Hilmy Cader said "There are emerging needs which
can be expected in Sri Lanka and the question arises whether we are
geared in terms of human talent to capture these opportunities. We need
to make it happen and not expect it to happen. It is the youth that will
take corporate Sri Lanka forward and this competition aims to inspire
them to take the helm.
This venture challenge aims to foster creativity, entrepreneurship
and bottom line thinking among young professionals who are expected to
present their business plans to an eminent panel of judges.
Judges' Panel Member, Triumph International Lanka, General Manager,
Shalindra Fernando said, "MTI Venture Start-up Challenge is interesting
and quite appropriate for the current time. We can tap into the youth
talent pool, create entrepreneurship and develop their skills, which is
necessary in corporate Sri Lanka.
