Laksiri - a promising squash player
Promising squash player Ravindu Hasintha Laksiri of D. S. Senanayake
College, Colombo is performing well in the recent past having started
playing the game at a very young age.

He put up a fine performance to win a special award at the Milo
sponsored tournament of 2010 which was held earlier this month in Kuala
Lumpur, Malaysia.
Many countries in Asia participated in the tournament and there were
other countries too which participated.
Ravindu performed well against players in the under 15 age group from
countries like Australia, New Zealand, Japan, India and Pakistan to win
the Classic Plate championship.
Ravindu's win is seen as the first in Sri Lanka Squash history at
international level.
He has had a string of successes earlier too. He has played at many
age groups at national level. He won the under 13 bronze medal for Sri
Lanka at the Milo Tournament and he also represented Sri Lanka at the
Asian Squash Tournament held in South Korea and he had success in India
too when he played in the under 19 age group while still at the age of
13 years.
He played at all age groups at national level and he has been crowned
under 17 champion.
He has been picked to play in the under 15 age group at the upcoming
Asian Squash Tournament scheduled to be held here in Sri Lanka in July.
He started playing squash at the early age of 9 years and has won
laurels for D. S. Senanayake College and for Sri Lanka.
He is thankful to all his coaches and the Principal of D. S.
Senanayake College who encouraged him in squash to achieve success. |
