President completes 40 years in politics
President Mahinda Rajapaksa completed 40 years in
politics yesterday. He entered the then National State Assemble as
the youngest member by winning his ancestral Beliatta constituency
for the United Front coalition at the May 27,1970 election.

People in the entire country enjoy freedom after
end of the conflict that had strangled the country’s development and
economy for over 30 years. The people in the North have started
interacting with their brethren in the South.
Govt will provide all infrastructure
Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa
yesterday stated that the government would provide all
infrastructure facilities to the North including Mannar that is
needed for the development under the “Mahinda Chintana” concept.
Defeated UNP candidate files F/R
A Galle District unsuccessful UNP candidate filed
a Fundamental Rights application in the Supreme Court seeking a
recount of the UNP preferential votes cast in respect of the Galle
District at the general election.
