External sector performance satisfactory:
Exports increase in February
Sri Lanka’s external sector performance showed
signs of improvement along with the gradual recovery of the global
economy. Earnings from exports grew by 20.0 percent in February 2010
to US $ 629 million led by higher earnings from agricultural and
industrial exports, the Central Bank said yesterday.

DFCC Vardhana Bank reports robust growth
FCC Vardhana Bank (DVB), has reported a robust
growth in the most vital areas of operations, in spite of adverse
economic conditions which prevailed globally. Total assets at the
close of the year amounted to Rs 31,336 million reflecting a 26.3
percent growth over the assets as at end of 2008.

PAB shows steady growth in Q1
Pan Asia Bank (PAB) has recorded a steady growth
in their core banking business which resulted in a profit after tax
of Rs 67.5 mn for the quarter ending March 31, 2010. This compares
with Rs 92.5 mn for the same period last year, where a significant
contribution of income came from gains on fixed income securities.
