Acting Media Minister Dr. Mervyn Silva soon after assuming duties officially yesterday, called on the Country’s Media to uphold social responsibility. He said that the media should act in a responsible manner, be impartial and accountable, as it was an important player in shaping public opinion.

UNP bids to win over average voter

Drastic reforms including a change in the deputy leadership of the UNP will be carried out shortly to make the party marketable and pose a challenge to the strong UPFA Government in and outside the Parliament, a top spokesman for the party told the Daily News.
