Sripathi’s wife pledges support to President
Dilrukshi Sripathi Sooriyaarachchi, wife of late Parliamentarian and
SLFP (M) Deputy Leader Sripathi Sooriyaarachchi met President Mahinda
Rajapaksa at Temple Trees on Thursday and pledged her unstinted support
to the UPFA at the forthcoming General Election.
Sooriyaarachchi who was the Gampaha district leader of the SLFP (M)
group was billed to contest the forthcoming election on the UNP ticket.
Sooriyaarachchi told the President that she had taken this course of
action because she is disillusioned with the program of work undertaken
by the SLFP (M) leadership and the instability of the political vision
and program of the UNP. That was why she voluntarily decided to support
the strong politics adopted by the President and his Government.
She said she would further stabilize the organisation set by her late
husband to assist the UPFA at the forthcoming election. Secretary to the
President Lalith Weeratunge, Dr. Prema Weeraman, Lalitha Senerath, Nimal
Weeratunge and several other former SLFP (M) group activists were also
present on the occasion. |
