Legal action against Fonseka

The Government is taking steps to institute legal action against
Sarath Fonseka over his statement made to a weekend newspaper, JNP
leader MP Wimal Weerawansa said.
Weerawansa noted that any top official who had served in a firm is
bound to protect the secrets of that firm when he joins another
establishment for a period of two years.
However the Opposition common candidate had displayed his ignorance
of such conventions by making such a frivolous statement.
He maintained that all Service Commanders of the past preserved war
secrets after retirement adding that they demonstrated their discipline
even after retirement. "However Sarath Fonseka who is craving for
executive powers had compromised the honour of the Heroic Forces by his
statement showing himself as the best example of an agent of the
imperialists," Weerawansa said.
The JNP leader was addressing a press briefing at their party
headquarters in Battaramulla. |
