Current account to record a surplus in 2009
Inflationary pressures continue to remain subdued
as reflected by the annual average inflation of around 4 percent
recorded by end November 2009, although year-on-year inflation
increased to 2.8 percent, a media release from the Central Bank
said. The outlook for inflation remains benign.

Licensed banks agree to reduce credit card interest rates
All licensed banks have agreed to reduce their
interest rates on credit cards in keeping with the directive issued
by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka. The banks issuing credit cards
will reduce the interest rates in the range - 24-36 percent.
