CP schools closure continue
Central Province records 15 AH1N1 deaths:
* Decline in patients coming to Kandy,
* Schools closure help reduce number of
Central Province Chief Minister Sarath Ekanayake said all schools in
the province will continue to remain closed. He said medical specialists
in the Central Province had recommended the move by the Central
Provincial Council. The Chief Minister said Education Minister Susil
Premajayantha had also been informed of the decision.
Ekanayake said that the report of the special team which visited
Central Province had been handed over to the Health Ministry Secretary.
Provincial Health Services Director Dr. Shanthi Samarasinghe said 15
deaths caused by AH1N1 have been reported from the province.
The number of patients with fever symptoms coming to Kandy and
Peradeniya hospitals has decreased. The closure of schools had
contributed to the decline of the disease.
