New fishery harbours on way

The construction of the full-fledged Hambantota fishery harbour is nearing completion.

"Ninety percent of the project has been completed, and the harbour will be handed over to the public without delay," said Ceylon Fisheries Corporation, General Manager Nihal Perera.

The Asian Development Bank has spent Rs. 530 million on the project so far.

The harbour is being constructed under Coast Conservation and Management Program," he said.

Full-fledged fishery harbours will be constructed at Dikowita, Ambalangoda, Chilaw, Negombo and Dodanduwa under the Coast Conservation and Management Project. CW
