CSE breaks turnover records

The Chief Executive Officer of the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE), Surekha Sellahewa said that the CSE surpassed the highest ever turnover recorded for a given year today, when it reached Rs. 115.2 billion for the year 2009 to date.

The previous record was Rs. 114.6 billion recorded for the year 2005. The average Daily Turnover so far this year stands at Rs. 538.5 million, also surpassing the previous high of Rs. 481.5 million recorded for the year 2005. The CSE has shown exceptional growth this year. The All Share Price Index (ASPI) reached 3,139.7 on October 13, 2009, the highest point reached by the index.
