Norway gifts 14 vehicles

The Norwegian Government yesterday gifted 14 vehicles to the Government of Sri Lanka at the Presidential Secretariat. Senior Presidential Advisor and Chairman of the Task Force for Northern Province Development Basil Rajapaksa MP accepted the donation on behalf of the Government from Norwegian Ambassador to Sri Lanka.

These vehicles were used by the Norwegian Government officials during the time in which the Ceasfire Agreement between the LTTE and the then Government was signed.

Speaking on the occasion, Senior Presidential Advisor Basil Rajapaksa thanked the Norwegian Government for handing over these vehicles which are to be deployed for the de-mining and resettlement activities in progress in the Northern Province. He said the Government has eradicated terrorism and created an atmosphere where people of all ethnic groups can live in peace without fear.

He said every people of the country should enjoy the benefit of peace. Norwegian Ambassador in Sri Lanka also spoke. Nation Building Ministry Secretary W.K. Kumarasiri was also present.
