Sailors win seven Championships

Defence Services Games:

Sri Lanka Navy the organizers of the Defence Services Games for the year 2009 got off to a flying start last week and already eighteen sports disciplines have been completed so far.

Sri Lanka Navy the organizers have taken a slender lead winning seven championships are closely followed by Sri Lanka Army who has gained six championships.

Sri Lanka Navy Commander Vice admiral Thisara Samarasinghe heads the organising committee with Major General MCMP Samarasinghe and Air Vice Marshal P.B. Premachandra and Rear Admiral D.W.A.S. Dissanayake handling the steering Committee in organising the games.

The other disciplines to be completed are Volleyball, at National Youth Services Council Courts, Soccer at Welisara Navy ground,Athletic at Sugathadasa stadium, Cricket at three venues, (Rifle Green, Panagoda and Welisara), Basketball at Police Courts Bambalapitiya.
