Bid to retain GSP+:

Response to EU ready

Minister
G.L. Peris

Export Development and International Trade Minister Prof. G.L. Peris told Parliament that the government has prepared a 'Comprehensive response' to be delivered to the European Commission (EC) through Sri Lanka's Ambassador in Brussels in a bid to retain the GSP plus facility for the country. The EC had given a time period till November 6 for the Government to send its observations to the commission before it makes a final decision on whether to continue to give Sri Lanka the preferential trade facility after it lapses in June 2010.

The Minister said the report has been compiled after gathering details from the relevant ministries.
