New Chairman appointed:
Re-launch of DGES
Dockyard General Engineering Services (Pvt.) Limited DGES launched
its new corporate identity with a vision "to be the Premier Heavy
Engineering Service Provider in South Asia" recently.
While Colombo Dockyard continues business activities in ship
repairing, shipbuilding and offshore engineering mainly for an
international clientele, DGES (Dockyard General Engineering Services (Pvt)
Ltd), is concentrating on heavy engineering and services and maintenance
sectors to fulfill the requirements of the nation arising from the State
driven infrastructural development and industrialization drive.
The Company also announced the appointment of Akihiko Nakauchi as the
Chairman of Colombo Dockyard PLC (CDPLC) succeeding Shinichi Tatebe who
retired after a successful term at the helm since 2004.
Akihiko Nakauchi who is an engineer by profession and a Graduate of
Kobe University, having completed a service spanning 38 years at Mitsui
Shipbuilding and Engineering Co., Ltd. of Japan took over as the
Chairman of Colombo Dockyard PLC from end October.
He had joined Mitsui Shipbuilding and Engineering Co., Ltd. as a
Fabrication Engineer in 1971 and has held various positions before
reaching the top position in the company.
Akihiko Nakauchi was also appointed a Director of Dockyard General
Engineering Services (Pvt) Limited, Sri Lanka and Ceylon Shipping
Agencies (Pte) Limited, Singapore.
