SPC polls today
Polling from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 1,485 stations:
The people of South will vote today to elect 55
members to their Provincial Council. Authorities said polling will
take place from 7 am to 4 pm at 1,485 stations, spanning Galle,
Matara and Hambantota districts.
President tells community based organisations:
We had faith in village community
When implementing our development plans we had
faith that the village community would be able to give us the facts
about what the needs of the community were and what resources were
available and how the expenditure could be managed without spending
unnecessarily, President Mahinda Rajapaksa said.
Lanka subject to maritime terrorism - Kohona

maritime terrorism. Following the recent defeat of a terrorist group
[LTTE], it had been discovered that their networks were being
transferred to arms smuggling and drug trafficking on the

Fitch affirms Lanka’s ratings at ‘B+’, Outlook Stable
Fitch Ratings has revised the Outlook on Sri
Lanka’s Long-term foreign and local currency Issuer Default Ratings
to Stable from Negative. At the same time, the agency has affirmed
the Long-term foreign and local currency IDRs and the Country
Ceiling at ‘B+’, and the Short-term IDR at ‘B’.
