Serena apologizes for match-ending outburst
Serena Williams apologized Monday for the
abusive and threatening tirade she launched at a line judge in a
semi-final loss to eventual champion Kim Clijsters at the US Open.
One day after issuing a statement in which she did not offer
apologies for Saturday’s incident, the 11-time Grand Slam champion
offered up an amendment to her comments with another statement, this
one containing an apology to many.

Sri Lanka Army beat Old Anandians by 91 points
to 62 in a Carlton Cup Open Basketball tournament ‘B’ Division match
played at Police courts.Sri Lanka Army was in the lead 41 points to
25 at half time. Gayan Buddika and Idunil Kodikara made valuable
contributions for the winners scoring 22 points each. L. D.
Rajapaksa was the top scorer for the losers with 29 while M.
Ratnayake Collected 19 points.
