Huge progress in estate schools

All facilities provided including 3600 teacher appointments:

President Mahinda Rajapaksa stressed that the estate sector has seen tremendous development in terms of education and that teacher shortages in the estate sector have already been solved by appointing over 3600 educated youth in the area as teachers. “We have provided adequate teachers to the Estate schools”, the President added.

Finance and State Revenue Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya told Parliament yesterday that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has reached a final agreement to grant a loan amounting to US $ 2.5 billion to Sri Lanka.

Kandy Esala Perahera:

Over 6,000 Police personnel on duty

A police contingent of over 6000 personnel will be deployed for official (security) duties in Kandy during the Kandy Esala Pageant period, said DIG (Central Province) Gamini Navaratne.This will include 3500 personnel deployed from outstations, he said.
