Key LTTE suspect nabbed in relief centre

A team from the Central Provincial Terrorist Investigation Intelligence Unit arrested a main suspect together with an accomplice in the assassination of Major General Janaka Perera and the attack on the Anuradapura Air Base.

The main suspect was identified as a ' Lt.Col.' of the LTTE .

The suspects were arrested by police while they were at the Settikulam relief camp. Police believe that the suspects were connected with the attacks on the Vavuniya Army Camp, Air Force Radar system, Digampathane bomb attacks and other major terrorist activities.

Police investigation revealed that these suspects are from Kankasanturai.

Further investigations are being conducted on the instructions of Central Provincial DIG Pujitha Jayasundara and SSP Gamini Nawaratne.
