Uva Provincial Council election:
Minister predicts a clear majority
The UPFA aims at winning the Uva Provincial Council elections with a
clear majority of over 70 percent and there is no one to challenge the
victory of the UPFA, Minister of Healthcare and Nutrition Nimal Siripala
de Silva said.
He was addressing several meetings in Badulla over the weekend. At
least 32 mass rallies were held during those two days organized by the
district operation centre for Uva Provincial Council election campaign.
A main rally was held at Town Hall, Haputale on Sunday.
Minister said, “We have a strong leadership under President Mahinda
Rajapaksa. When I visit foreign countries, most foreigners highly
appreciate our leadership. The President is the only leader who defeated
terrorism. Analysts said the LTTE is one of the strong terrorist
organizations in the world. Given the excellent leadership, our soldiers
wiped out terrorism from our country.”
The Uva Provincial Council election is very important. Most people in
this province believe that they should vote for the UPFA in the Uva
Provincial Council election to show gratitude to the President, the
Minister said.
“As a Government, we took several steps to develop the Uva Province.
During the United National Party Government, they did not develop
infrastructure facilities in the estate sector. But during the past
three years our Government launched massive development projects to
uplift the lives of Uva people.
We have spent over Rs. 10,000 million under the Uva Wellassa
development project. Roads, bus stands, water and sanitation, power,
health facilities are also developed under the Pubudammu Wellassa
development program. |
