Upgrading university education, need of hour

South Eastern University of Sri Lanka's third Vice-Chancellor Dr. S.
M. M. Ismail who assumed duties at Oluvil Park on Monday following a
special religious ceremony announced that his vision and mission was to
up-grade the University to the status of ISO to achieve his goals.
He called on all to cooperate with him.
"We all must presume that this prime Educational Institution is the
property of all of us and developing this Institution is our sole
responsibility without tarnishing its image and glory. This should be
our prime need and responsibility," he said. Dr. Ismail who had had the
distinction of holding several positions as Dean of the Faculty of
Management and Commerce and Head of Social Science since 1996 in
different periods in this University has been serving as the Director of
the World Bank's IRQUE. Dr. Ismail assured that he takes this
responsibility with the sense of dedication and sacrifice for the sake
of the higher education of the people of the area. He appealed to all to
extend their fullest cooperation. Then only he could take forward all
development programs to accomplish them in an appreciable manner, he
said. |
