Colombo South 'A' win by 279 runs

Colombo South 'A' picked up their second successive win in their under 19 inter district cricket tournament when they trounced Ratnapura district by 279 runs, played at De Soysa Stadium, Moratuwa.

In the gloomy weather, Colombo South was very lucky to call the coin correctly and had no hesitation to take the first least of the damp pitch and piled up a formidable score of 336 for 7 in their allotted 47 overs.

Peterite Akshu Fernando was in fine form and hit up a scintilating 117 runs with eighteen hits to the rope in only 88 balls.

Visitors had no clue to the wily bowling attack of the opponents and were bundled out for a paltry 57 runs in just under seventeen overs.

Colombo South 'A' 336 for 7 in 47 overs (Akshu Fernando 117, Gihan Hondamunige 45, Charith Jayampathy 37, Maduka Liyanapathirana 39 n.o., Rasitha Gamage 37 n.o., Yasoda Eranjith 2 for 68).
